Product Design Evaluation/User Interface
When designing products and environments, it is critical to consider user capabilities and limitations. As humans we can only attend to a given amount of information, see within a limited visual field, have limited ability to process auditory signals given frequent masking and interference of multiple signals.
Our consultants have extensive experience evaluating products, systems, and environments that cause injury/death and/or property damage. At times, systems can induce error when foreseeable misuses are not taken into consideration. We apply our forensic experience and expertise to help organizations be proactive in their design to preclude avoidable errors and resulting litigation. We employ various tools such as failure modes and effects analysis (FMEA) and testing products and environments with the foreseeable user population. When hazards cannot be eliminated through design and barriers, we work with manufacturers to develop or improve warnings and instructions.
